Gaming Identity Protocol
Why build a Gaming Identity Protocol?
We believe the future lies in personalised and secure online experiences, powered by player reputation. Our protocol supports this vision in three ways.
Player Empowerment - Players invest countless hours in games & community engagement without true ownership of their data. Our protocol enables players to aggregate, own, and leverage their data to benefit from it.
Developer Empowerment - Software development has stagnated over the last decade, standardising the way brands and gaming organisations connect with their audience. We empower developers to create new, immersive gaming experiences tailored to each user's unique identity.
Ecosystem Interactions - We believe that a user's gaming identity should not be confined to a single app, game, or community. The XBorg protocol, through its integration with World ID, establishes Proof of Personhood and serves as a reputation layer for gamers.
What are the benefits for players?
Players own and centralize their gaming data in one place
Players gain access to gaming applications and utilities within the ecosystem
Players can monetize their data
What are the benefits for developers?
Developers can develop custom player experiences
Businesses can acquire users by targeting players for a fee
The Identity Protocol provides instant access to games and developers, expanding their reach
Developers can access more granular data, enhancing matchmaking accuracy and other app features
The platform enables new use cases for applications, including reputation-based lending
How does the XBorg ID look like?
The XBorg ID is a soulbound token unique to a player, containing as metadata, the history of player in-game and social data.
Who is using the XBorg Gaming Identity Protocol?
The world's largest esports teams are building on top of our protocol, including:
Team Liquid
Ninjas In Pyjamas
Team BDS
How do you scale the identity protocol to millions of players?
We first rely on the esports team integration of the identity protocol. These esports teams bring substantial scale via their fan bases.
Team Liquid: The world’s biggest esports team by cash earned. 2m fans (https://twitter.com/TeamLiquid)
Ninjas In Pyjamas: 58x Champions. 1.3m fans (https://twitter.com/NIP)
Team BDS: Ex-Rocket League World Champions. 600k fans (https://twitter.com/TeamBDS)
More than 10 leading esports teams are being onboarded on the XBorg protocol.
How is data privacy handled?
Iterations of the protocol in the future will allow players to disclose pertinent data points selectively by enabling opt-in/opt-out functionality. Furthermore, zero-knowledge technologies are set to be incorporated in subsequent updates, underscoring the platform's unwavering commitment to privacy and data security.
Is the Gaming Credential Network on-chain?
At present, the Identity Protocol is stored off-chain to allow for rapid iterations. Upon sufficient scale of the network (100k active players), the network will slowly transition on-chain with a custom scaling solution (L2) for data availability and verification.
What are the limitations of the Gaming Identity Protocol?
Sybil resistance: An inherent constraint of network infrastructure lies in the susceptibility of its users to adopt false personas or leverage advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence to manipulate their digital identities. To mitigate the detrimental effects of Sybil attacks, one effective strategy involves the incorporation of a Proof of Identity mechanism into the network's underlying protocol.
Scale: The true value proposition of the identity protocol is contingent upon achieving a requisite level of network scale, a priority that currently holds significant strategic importance for XBorg. However, once this objective is realized, the potential utilities that can be derived from the network are truly boundless.
When is the minting of XBorg IDs possible?
The on-chain minting of XBorg IDs will be made possible in Q2 2024.
